Gorgeous shot Debra. This pose of the ospery (wings up like an angel) in my prefered one. So majestic. I guess you will be on the osprey assigment for the summer. I will be so glad to follow the story and see your best shots.

Thank you very much Yves, I really liked the positioning and lighting on the wings as well. I will be checking in on them for sure. Maybe on day I will get a shot of them pulling fish out of the water.

Wow.. your timing couldn't have been better for this fabulous shot, Debra, your patience certainly paid off. What a gorgeous wing shot and excellent detail on both birds here. I really appreciate the narrative and hope the other pair found a good nesting site too but I don't suppose they have many to choose from.

Thanks very much for your kind feedback. There has been a few businesses that are close to the floodway and the river that have put up a platform for the Osprey to build a nest upon. Also hydro has put up some platforms around lake Winnipeg to keep the Osprey from building nests on the hydro poles. In the nearby gravel pits if there is any equipment not being used the Osprey will try to build upon the equipment. I have been out scouting to see if I could find any nests being built but have not been successful.

Description
The Osprey nest is now occupied for the 2025 breeding season. In fact there was a bit of a competition for the nest. The first male that I spotted was quite small so I figured a new couple was taking over. The next day I noticed four Osprey all chasing each other. One female would go back to the nest and try to claim it and another would fly over and literally try to get her to leave the nest. The competition lasted about a day before one couple moved on. The couple in the nest appears to be a more mature couple. In this picture the male osprey is about to breed with the female. They had both been resting in the nest and I was about to leave when I saw him hop closer to her.
